I enjoy working with the climbing community, especially in being able to offer high quality replacement of slings on camming devices. I appreciate the many phone calls from customers who keep me abreast of what’s going on ‘up there’. Several years ago, we stopped accepting credit cards. This has helped us keep our prices at the same point they were 8 years ago. Say that about anything else you buy!! The flip side is that we now depend on trust for customers to pay up for the service we provide. To date, we have been very pleased with the responsibility shown by our community. There have been very few instances where climbers failed to pay for the quality and service we provide. Well, it could be an honest mistake. But you know who you are and you don’t want me to be your next belayer!!
The US Postal Service has garnered my nomination again this year for the universe’s most lousy delivery service. Not only do they cost YOU more, they cost us more too. We operate in a rural location, where postal service does not deliver to the door. If you send a bunch of cams by INSURED mail, all I get is a notice that we must drive in to town to pick them up. When you figure the cost of our time, plus the cost of fuel, you can see that USPS costs us money. We want to urge you to send your gear by UPS GROUND or preferably FEDEX GROUND. The rates for insured packages from either carrier are actually lower that USPS! But… if you insist on sending your trusty cams by Uncle Sam, here’s what we ask. Include a crisp $10.00 bill with the shipment. That way, we can enjoy a pint or two of the best beer in SW Colorado- Steamworks Brewing’s ‘Lizard Head Red’. The name fits the brew – lofty with a crisp aftertaste!
